At Home in Gaza and London explores how the digital can be used to publicly express a utopian vision in the midst of destruction and conflict. Selected by LIFT (London International Festival of Theatre) and Watermans in the context of the LIFT UTOPIA Digital R&D Residency*, we created a virtual bridge between Gaza and London in reaction to the physical restrictions in place.
A series of workshops, held simultaneously in London and Gaza, led to a performance with artists and audience in both cities. Two places linked together using video and sound to create a reimagined ‘third’ shared virtual space, providing the possibility to investigate what is meant by ‘home’ in each place and how it might be embodied. Developing new hybrid narratives that emerge from juxtaposing and superimposing people and objects in Gaza and London to create a single improvised performance space in a new imagined world not bound by the current status quo with its own unique set of rules and future possibilities.

The residency was published in Reuters/ TNT world in 2016.
